Khoshk is a tiny village in southern Khorrasan. It is poor and the young people have left to seek work in the cities. Ali lives and works in Tehran but he returns every year to his parents in Khoshk to harvest the barberries (zereshk). His parents – and the village itself ­– return to colour and life.
