Some of the most influential figures in the Iranian modern art movement were celebrated in a recent exhibition in Tehran’s Oveisi Gallery. The group included such names as Ahmad Esfandiari, Mansoureh Hosseini, Hooshang Pezeshknia, Nasser Oveisi and Parviz Kalantari. 

Moving from Hosseini’s studies of intricately painted flowers to Kalantari’s Iranian architecture inspired compositions, the exhibition examines the roles of such pioneers within the contemporary art scene. Javad Mojabi, writer and art critic, guides us through the exhibition.
