Facing a limited job market and increasingly high domestic prices many women have begun to sell products illegally on the Tehran Metro system.

In order to supplement inadequate or nonexistent incomes these women will sell everything from nail files to sports socks within the ‘women only’ carriages, often facing confrontations with police and the confiscation of their goods if they are caught.
